This is the fuel tank check valve that regulates tank pressure and allows the fuel tank to vent through the side of the craft on a 2-stroke engine. If you do not hear air escaping when removing the fuel cap, inspect this valve to ensure it is operating correctly. The valve should hold approximately 1.5 psi of pressure. Maintaining pressure in the fuel tank is important because it helps supply fuel to the fuel pump and supports proper engine operation.
